cobol2j — Beyond Mainframe

Mainframe rehosting to Java 21 and Kubernetes

Leave the hardware. Keep the data. Own the Java.

Your COBOL, CICS and JCL become Java 21 that your own team owns and maintains — on your Kubernetes, with no per-MIPS bill and no proprietary IDE to stay locked into. Your VSAM data crosses over byte for byte, so the master file that ran the business yesterday is the one running it tomorrow.

No emulator. No new COBOL to write, and none to maintain once it is certified. No meter on your workload.

Your data crosses over intact

VSAM keeps its exact bytes inside PostgreSQL — packed decimal, redefines and collation included. Nothing is reshaped to fit a new model, so there is no conversion project hiding inside the migration, and no month of reconciling totals that no longer add up. Your analysts get the same records through plain SQL, without a mainframe tool in the middle.

The Java is yours, not ours

When a program passes your tests you certify it, and the tool never regenerates it again. From that day it is ordinary Java 21 in your Maven build, in the IDE your team already uses. Migration becomes something that ends: you are not renting access to your own source code for the life of the system.

Nothing is translated wrong in silence

Whatever the translator cannot handle, it reports — program by program, before anyone signs a plan. The same engine produces the assessment and the migration, so the estimate cannot drift from the result. You find out what the hard 5% is while it is still a slide, not during a cutover weekend.
